4th day reflections
One definition of life could be unwanted interdependence and inescapable awkwardness. So things are falling into place slowly at the training, norms are being established, contested, negotiated, and established again. Most importantly, people are opening up and stepping away from the territory of politely staring at a safe distance and entering domains where conflict is possible, but so its creation. Today people could do workshops and they took the chance seriously, some for the first time [you know who you are and, shucks, awww :)]
The creative process ahead is likely going to be chaotic and confusing, but that's ok. Even Salman Rushdie doesn't really know what to do words. But he sits down every day anyway and writes away, layering meanings on sounds, sentences on rhymes, and punctuation on narratives. Does he ever create stuff he cringes at? Probably, but that's the side effect. And at this point in time young people, in particular, have an urgency to articulate, spice the words, remix shamelessly and start again, because we have a job to do. And that job is to articulate a story, that can hold disaster, yet speak hope and weave a liveable future we will all share. And that is worth a cringe or two.
